Lord Business: A Conversation With Luke

Hey, wait! That doesn't seem fair.... (apologies to those who have not seen The LEGO Movie)

L: I'm LEGO astronaut guy!
DH: Does that make me Lord Business?
L: No!
Me: No, that would be me.
L: Yeah, Mommy is Mrs. Business!
DH: So who am I?
L: You're Batman.
Currently feeling: not nearly as awesome as Daddy

Biathlon: A Conversation With Luke

Original image Copyright (c) 123RF Stock Photos, modified by me

Watching Olympic coverage of the biathlon....

L: What are they doing?
Me: They ski for a bit, then they stop and do some shooting.
L: They're shooting at the other people?
Me (dying laughing): No, they're shooting at targets!
DH: I bet shooting at the other people would make them ski faster.

Currently feeling: grateful I'm not a target

Adult Supervision Required

This is what happens when wife/mom foolishly declines to participate in the trip to Sports Authority "for cleats." Looks like more than cleats to me! All future visits will be properly supervised.

We have also officially crossed the divide. He had to go up to a size 6.5 on his cleats, which can only be found in the men's section. Not so bad on the price difference in men's and boys' cleats, but that's really going to hurt when we buy him new sneakers (hopefully this coming weekend).

Currently feeling: play ball!

SNOWchi 2014

Yes, it's snowing. Again. It actually started out more as freezing rain and sleet this time. We had a decent coating on the trees, but thankfully, we never lost power. (I hear most of Augusta was not so fortunate.)

But then it did decide to snow on top of all of that. You know, just in case we were feeling unloved by winter. ::snort::

And yes, we've been trapped in the house with school canceled and roads impassible for several days. Fun! (Not.) BTW, I take no credit for the title of this post. I stole it from Facebook. Star just can't bear this winter weather anymore (frankly, I'm with her!).

As they pointed out on NBC, it was colder in most of the USA this week than it was in Sochi, Russia, where the Winter Olympics are currently being held. We have been having a little fun here at home, though.

These are the Olympic snacks Luke has enjoyed this week. The idea for the medals and the torch came from Living Well, Spending Less, found on Pinterest (of course). The other two were my own idea: Olympic Rings Cereal (fruit loops) and an Olympic brownie (pre-made brownie with gummy life savers on top). I hope to have a couple more next week, but we'll have to see.

Currently feeling: ready for the snow to stay in Russia

Movie Muse Shorts: The LEGO Movie

Everything is awesome!

If you know nothing else of this movie, you probably know that phrase. Awesome might be overstating things a bit, but we really liked this movie, all three of us! (And I just have to say that not having to screen every single movie before he sees it is, in fact, quite awesome.) I actually didn't have very high hopes for it (some of the direct to video LEGO offerings have been rather painful), but this was great fun. Some people were a little upset about the twist (a friend's son burst into tears and had to leave the theater; I don't consider it that traumatic), but I actually thought it added to the story. And just so you can be cursed (like the rest of us) whether you've actually seen the film or not, here is THE song. It *will* be stuck in your head for days and days (was almost a week for me). Don't say I didn't warn you....

Currently feeling: like dancing!

Riker's Beard: A Conversation With Luke

Original image Copyright (c) 123RF Stock Photos, modified by me

"Can we watch Star Trek?" Five little words that make me tremendously happy! Today, we were getting ready to move on to Season 2 of ST:TNG. I asked him to put in the disc....

Luke: Mommy, the person on the front of the first Season 2 disc looks like Commander Riker. But he has a beard. Is it him?
Me: I don't know, we'll have to see.
[The disc starts, showing very short clips of each major crew member while the music plays.]
Luke: Yes, it's him. I can tell by the smile.
Me: :-)
