Pentagon acknowledges reports of Russian ship off Georgia coast

Wait, what now? Apparently, there is a Russian spy ship less than 50 miles (80 km) from my hometown/parents' house, and probably less than 20 miles (32 km) from my mother-in-law. That wouldn't have been a surprise in the 1980s, but now? What year is it again? Reminds me of this meme going around Facebook recently.

Currently feeling: how did people plan things before post-it notes?!

High Dive

Luke went to the pool after school with a neighborhood friend today. Around 3 PM, I received the above picture with the following text message: "Luke jumping off the high dive. Didn't faze him at all!" And by "high dive," she means a 3 meter springboard, which is about 10 feet above the surface of the water. Pretty sure I never did such a thing! Most public/non-collegiate pools these days don't even have a diving board that high, so the opportunity to even do it is rare in and of itself.
