It is not a good thing when you are talking to medical professionals about your mother-in-law's case, and more than one of them (independently from each other) say "Do you watch the show House MD? It's a bit like that." Yeah, you never want to be the most interesting or challenging case a doctor has ever had, and that's about where they are now. She's still having some trouble with anemia/low hemoglobin, and they have absolutely no idea what's causing it or how to fix it. As of today, word is she will likely be in the hospital at least another week, at which point she will officially have been in the hospital over a month, with no firm resolution (or release date) in sight. It's getting rather old, for all of us, but especially for her.
Soon, we will have to have the discussion about where else we might need to transfer her (maybe Jacksonville or possibly Atlanta), but that will take some investigation into her insurance and some convincing; I know she doesn't want to go to yet another hospital, but she can't go home with such low and unsteady hemoglobin numbers! That will just land her right back in the hospital when she most likely passes out from lack of enough oxygen in her blood, which would not be good. It's just frustrating, for everyone.
Currently feeling: tired of the waiting game
