Monday night sleep update, part 1

We closed the door at 8:30 tonight. That is a full hour later than he has been going to bed for the last month, and 90 minutes later than his usual 7 PM bedtime for the last 2 years. It didn't seem to help. Still took an hour of *constant* intervention to get him to stay in his room and, presumably, sleep. And yes, we did finally have to lock the door, but it was a last resort and came with several warnings, and within 3 minutes of him realizing it was locked, he was quiet. There was some crying, but very little screaming, and only a couple of cursory bangs on the door. (I haven't been brave enough to open the door and check on him yet.) I suppose that is progress. Guess we'll see.

Hopefully, we won't have to lock it next time. Hopefully, there will be no update part 2 tonight. However, I am starting to feel more and more foolish for hoping for anything anymore where his sleep is concerned.

I cannot even begin to tell you how much your support, suggestions, comments, good thoughts, and prayers mean to me. Thank you so much! And for those of you (who may indeed overlap with the above group) who are just sick and tired of reading about the Luke sleep saga on my blog, I intend to let it go after tonight. There will be updates, but they should be of the one or two sentence variety instead of the long and anguished posts of late. Thanks for sticking with me.
Currently feeling: trying to hang on

  1. Don't apologise for your posts. If you need to let it all out in a safe place, this is it and you go ahead and do it.

I know it is awful, but tonight sounds like (very small) progress to me. Stick at it if you possibly can. It makes for a more peaceful life for everyone in the end.

Hugs and good thoughts to you.

  2. I am soo glad that things went "better" tonight, even if it was still bad, I know. Please keep us updated. If people don't want to read it, they don't have to!!

My apologies for not allowing comments from Anonymous users. I was getting way too much spam. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment!
